Project Management

This course examines project management roles and environments, the project life cycle and various techniques of work planning, control and evaluation to achieve project objectives. The tools currently available to project managers are discussed throughout this course.
Credit Units/Hours
Upon successful completion of this course, you will earn 3 semester hours of college credit. This course represents the equivalent of learning outcomes normally achieved through 45 hours of student classroom study or through distance learning instruction.
Course Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the course, students should be able to:
- Develop a holistic view of project management that focuses on how projects contribute to the strategic goals of the organization.
- Understand the selection process for projects that bests support organizational strategy.
- Grasp the technical and managerial processes to complete projects.
- Understand the concepts, principles, and techniques involved in managing projects.
- Explain the work breakdown structure and scheduling techniques.
- Understand the importance of estimating in project management.
- Understand the importance of relationship-building among vendors, subcontractors, project team members, senior management, functional managers, and customers.
