Project Management Certificate with PMP Preparation

The curricula outlined for the Project Management subject area embodies the key knowledge, skills, values and attitudes that students are required to develop at Certificate level. It forms the basis on which instructors can plan their individual course content and design appropriate learning, teaching and assessment activities. Courses which can be taken at Certificate level may also form part of Recognized Prior Learning (RPL) and credited as University undergraduate subjects. The Academy may require additional electives and/or upgrade material to be taken to ensure that the course load is appropriate for the certificate level in these cases.

The design of this curriculum is based on the principles and standards in the Project Management Institute's (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) Guide, as well as the National Vocational Qualifications Frameworks of Canada and the USA.

Project Planning and Execution
This course covers schedule development, cost estimation, resource allocation, and project documentation
Practical Component: Use of project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project) for hands-on planning
Project Quality and Risk Management
Students will learn to identify and manage project risks, and control quality of project deliverables
Practical Component: Real-world scenarios for risk assessment and quality control exercises
Agile and Adaptive Project Management
This course outlines Agile principles, frameworks, and their application in project management
Practical Component: Workshops on Scrum and Kanban frameworks with team exercises
Project Leadership and Stakeholder Management
Focuses on leadership styles, team dynamics, and effective stakeholder management in projects
Practical Component: Role-playing exercises to enhance leadership and communication skills
PMP Certification Preparation
